QUARTERLY MEETING - THURSDAY, May 18, 2002

 

I.                   Call to Order/Welcome –

II.        Reading/Approval of Previous Minutes  - Sue May made a motion to approve the minutes, Morgan seconded.

III.             Crime Watch – Terry – Crime has decreased, overall good quarter.

IV.              Beautification – Joseph – We have made tremendous advancements in our beautification project.  We have submitted a grant to the city for help on paying for the project. There are lots of plans in the works.  Yard of the Month was Moselle Edwards and 325 South Manus. 

V.                 Treasurer’s Report – We have $5,036.53 in our account.  Northern Trust has agreed to pay for our next year’s dues for the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce and for the room rental.

VI.              By Laws Review/Discussion/Voting – Cindy reviewed the changes to the bylaws regarding Owensons.  Rita Jasso spoke on behalf of Owensons.  She advised that although she didn’t get much response, they want to stay a part of Owensons.  Rita acknowledged they have failed to participate and they want to participate.  They also took up donations to give to the WNNA.  Rita advised her neighbors that she was not going to baby-sit her neighbors and they needed to participate on their own.    Jeremy Ratliff voiced his opinion that Owensons had expressed an interest in participating and had made a good-faith effort to attend.  Mary Scherer voiced her opinion that she was pleased that the Owensons had attended.  Daniel Segovia from Owensons stated that he also wanted their street to stay as a member of the WNNA.  Tina Jinez from Owensons also expressed her desire that they stay in the WNNA.     All 41 members present at the homeowners meeting voted to retain Owensons as part of the WNNA.

VII.           Upcoming Events – Morgan – The Spring Clean-up is this weekend, even if there is a light rain.  If we miss it this weekend, it will be rescheduled for the fall.  The thing we need the most are gas weed eaters. The Clean up starts Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Cindy and Mary’s home.  Call the crime watch number to see if we are doing the clean up.     The Progressive Dinner has sold out.  The dinner is April 27, and starts at 7:00 p.m.      The Spring Fling is May 19th.  There will be a fajita bar, music at 330 North Manus.

VII.    Open Discussion/Reminders – We will start collecting for the Genesis house and the food bank.   Helen Schneider advised the association about the Dallas Shelter problem.  Helen asked that we e-mail our council representatives and let them know we want better facilities.  The cost will be .25 a year to build a better facility.  Please call your representative and tell them our animals are worth  .25.   Jeremy asked that we put an announcement in the newsletter regarding keeping dogs on leashes.  He has been chased by neighborhood dogs while jogging.   Jody’s first grade class made invitations to the Spring Fling.    Terry advised that he is selling flags for $1.50 and also had recycling bags available.   

Morgan introduced the vendors who were present at the homeowners meeting.
