Keep Wynnewood North Looking Its Best
Wynnewood North's lush beauty provides us all with a strong sense of pride. Friends and family are always impressed by our community's expansive trees, large yards and historic architecture. By keeping our homes and yards in shape, we elevate our property values and interest prospective home buyers. Our community's beauty is ruined if bulk trash is set out too early, if grass is left to grow uncontrollably, or other city codes are left unchecked. Please help your neighbors keep Wynnewood North looking its best by following these simple guidelines. Bulk Trash Services - Know the Rules!
Put Your Bulk Trash Out on Time Refer to the bulk trash schedule above to make sure you put your trash out on time. Remember, every violation for putting bulk trash out too early or too late will result in a citation-no warnings-with a fine amount plus court costs totaling $250.00 Brush and bulk trash includes the following items: large tree limbs, shrubbery, bagged leaves (in sealed bags with a maximum 50-gallon capacity), furniture, appliances, mattresses, and box springs. Do not put bagged grass clippings, new construction or remodeling materials such as lumber or roofing materials, bricks, concrete, rocks, or dirt out for collection. For More Information Regarding the City of Dallas's Policy regarding Bulk Trash, please visit this site.
Helpful Hints and Phone Numbers When selecting a tree trimmer, yard service, remodeling company, etc., ask if they will remove the resulting trash. Many include this service in their prices; others charge a fee. For the do-it-yourself person, schedule your projects around the bulk trash pick up dates. If these options don't work, contact City Sanitation Customer Service at 214-670-8613 or on the web at www.dallascityhall.com to schedule an individual pick up for a fee as part of the Citys Cost Plus service. Code Compliance Wynnewood North is an active community of friends. As such, we understand when one of us makes a mistake. However a “repeat offender” puts a strain on all of us. If one of your neighbors repeatedly violates a city code, please contact the City Code Compliance Department at 311. A list of frequently asked questions and other information is printed on the reverse side. For more information, visit www.dallascityhall.com The Code Compliance Department enforces City Codes to prevent and abate nuisances on private property such as open and dangerous buildings, illegal dumping, weeded lots, graffiti, junk motor vehicles and others. Help us keep the City of Dallas beautiful and safe by becoming familiar with the City Code requirements described below and by reporting violations. How do I report a code violation? Call City Services Dispatch at 311. Please identify the type of concern and the address of the location. Do I have to identify myself when reporting a violation? It is not necessary to identify yourself unless you want to be contacted regarding your complaint. All complainants names remain anonymous. What are the more common violations reported? Some of the most common violations are high weeds, litter, and Junk Motor Vehicles. Litter The homeowner or tenant is responsible for maintaining the area between the curb in front of the house to the middle of the alley (or the back property line if there is no alley) free of litter and high weeds. Weeds Weeds or grass over 12 inches high is a violation of the Dallas City Code. Property owners and tenants are responsible for keeping their lawns mowed and clippings mulched or cleared. Obstructions The occupant or owner is responsible for keeping street, alley, sidewalk, and public grounds clear of obstruction. This includes the trimming of trees, shrubbery, and vines which may obstruct any vehicle traveling through an alley, or that obstructs sidewalk. Open Storage Any item that is not customarily used or stored outside or is not made of material that is resistant to damage or deterioration from exposure to the outdoors cannot be placed outside for more than 24 continuous hours. Exceptions include motor vehicles on improved surfaces, lawn furniture and landscaping items. Open and Vacant Structure An owner shall keep the doors and windows of a vacant structure or vacant portion of a structure securely closed to prevent unauthorized entry. The City will secure the structure at the owner's expense if the owner does not secure the structure. Garage Sales The City of Dallas permits two garage sales each year per property. The sales may last no longer than three days and a person cannot sell merchandise acquired solely for resale purposes in the garage sale. A sign advertising the sale can only be placed on the property where the sale is occurring. Junked Motor Vehicle Motor vehicles that are inoperative and partially dismantled and have expired license tags or safety stickers are considered "junk motor vehicles." These vehicles are in violation of the Dallas City Code and may be ticketed. In cases of lengthy noncompliance, the City has the authority to remove a vehicle and sell it for salvage. Signs It is a violation of the City code to post any signs on a utility pole, tree, or the City right-of-way. A violation is punishable by a fine of not more than $2,000 per day per violation. Parking On The Proper Surface Motor vehicles in Dallas must be parked on an approved surface; this means concrete, asphalt or 6 inches of gravel with a border. It is a violation to park a vehicle on the lawn. Vehicles should be parked on a driveway or on the street where permitted.
